A Monoplace Hyperbaric Chamber is a pressure vessel for human occupancy (PVHO) with one internal compartment or ‘lock’, providing a place for one person.
This chamber was fabricated by in the UK in 1984 to British Standard (BS) 5500 (Cat 2). The standard is now PD5500 (Cat 2). The chamber is an unfired fusion weld fabrication with two viewing ports and a single wide access hatch (door).
In 2004, the chamber was refurbished by SubTech Services of Barrow-in-Furness, for a private customer requiring Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). The chamber was used for one year, to treat leg ulcers. The treatment was successful, but the chamber was retained in case of a recurrence. There has been no recurrence and the owner has no other use for the chamber.
